| Farewell for Oliver and Salote |
|
On Sunday August 1st, a small afternoon tea was held at the Southgate church to farewell Oliver and Salote Poloso. Oliver and Salote are church workers from the Wesleyan Methodist Church of the Solomon Islands. They have been in Brisbane for several years while Oliver completed his Bachelor's degree at the Nazarene Theological College.
The afternoon tea included several speeches and the presentation of a number of gifts. Special mention was made of the faithfulness of Wesleyan World Missions (Aust) and Global Partners (USA) who have together provided for this time of study. The congregation at Southgate church were also mentioned for their generosity and faithfulness to Oliver and Salote.
The Polosos are due to return to the Solomon Islands this month (August), as soon as the last couple of assignments are submitted at NTC. A large part of Oliver's duties will be to assist in training the next generation of pastors in the Solomons. We look forward to a long and close friendship with our church family in the Solomons, and we recognise Oliver and Solote's crucial role in that bond.
