| Sarina Church 25th Anniversary |
|
The Sarina Wesleyan Methodist Church Family celebrated 25 years of ministry, worship and family over the weekend of the 18th/19th April 2009, with 100 individuals attending over the course of the event. The catch cry of the church “Not Just a Church but a Family” was celebrated throughout the weekend and enhanced by the theme song “Family” especially written for the anniversary. A small but eager singing group, who had been practising for weeks, provided part of the services. Camp-oven tucker and BBQ fed the crowds, thanks to the great work of Kev and Sue. The recently erected “Youth Centre” provided a the venue for the dining, fellowship and reminiscing. Sam jogged memories and provided some laughs with the power point slide show. Visitors came from as far away as Brisbane, Yeppoon, Mackay, Townsville and Bundaberg, with greetings from friends and former members in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The message on Saturday night was shared by Pastor Rob Lassig and Rev Lindsay Cameron (Nat Supt) preached on Sunday morning. Pastors Lindsay and Jo Enderby who have been serving at Sarina for the past 16 years spent many hours preparing for the very successful weekend. A cake was cut on Saturday afternoon to help with the celebrations.
