On Saturday 16th May, more than $5,000 was raised for the NSW District Co-labourer's fund by the Tongan churches of the district. Rev Lamatau Vaomotou coodinated a fund-raising dinner at the Busby church with dancers coming from Busby, Doonside, Campbelltown and Griffith Wesleyan Methodist churches. This extraordinary gift in support of church expansion was gratefully accepted by District Superintendent, Rev Graeme Wright, on behalf of the district.

The Busby dinner coincided with the meeting of the National Board of Administration in Sydney from May 16th to 19th. As a result, all National Board members attended the dinner and some were even coaxed onto the dance floor. Rev Rigby's dance was particularly memorable.

The Saturday evening dinner was followed on Sunday by a traditional worship service with the National Superintendent as guest speaker. Many of the delegates from other churches stayed for the Sunday service and the elaborate feast that followed.
