The South Queensland District Conference was held at Hills Wesleyan in Brisbane and chaired by National Superintendent, Rev Lindsay Cameron. Delegates and guests gathered on Friday and Saturday, 25th and 26th of September. Together they celebrated and dealt with district business.
Some significant events of the conference: - Rev Lex Akers stepped down as District Superintendent after five years in the role. Many expressions of appreciation were offered from the conference floor. - Rev Rex Rigby, currently Superintendent of the North QLD district, was elected as District Superintendent from the rise of conference and Rev Rob Simpson of the Maryborough Wesleyan Methodist Church was elected as Assistant Superintendent. - Lita Haufano was ordained as a minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and Sitika Satui was commissioned as a Lay Minister during the Friday evening celebration. - Special visitors included missionaries, Don and Cheri Floyd (PNG) and Rev Kay Fulcher (Solomon Islands), Ruth Thomas (Australian Director of World Hope), and Rev Kevin Brown (Director of Studies with Kingsley Community).
